Before I dive into the review, I have to say that I absolutely loved Caught Up in You and was thrilled to receive an ARC copy of it.
Set in Eastern Canada, the story introduces us to Mia and Landon within the first chapter. As this is a brother’s best friend romance, it’s pretty clear how they know each other: Mia’s brother is coming back after a decade away to take over the local vet clinic, and Landon is returning as well to run the clinic with him. Mia offers her brother a place to stay, but she’s caught off guard when she discovers that Landon will be living next door. It’s evident that Mia has had a crush on Landon for a long time, and she’s both excited and nervous about having him so close.
While trying to avoid major spoilers, it’s safe to say that Mia and Landon do end up together, and there’s definitely spice in the story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I found Mia’s reliance on her to-do lists particularly relatable, as I’m the same way. Additionally, I loved the portrayal of the characters as Portuguese, which added a unique touch and highlighted their close-knit community.
Overall, I adored this book, as I do with all of Alexandria Goncalves’s novels. Her Canadian background really shines through, adding an authentic touch that makes the setting and characters feel genuine.
I’ll stop the review here to avoid any spoilers, but I’ll leave you with this: If you enjoy brother’s best friend romances, age-gap stories, and small-town settings, then you’ll definitely love this book. It’s a charming read that hits all the right notes for fans of these genres.
